The Stratacoustic has been around since the early 1990s. These early 1990s models were made in Japan (there may even have been some made in the Fender Custom Shop like the first Telecoustics?) and had all wood bodies. Since then the design was changed to fibreglass bodies and production has moved to China and Indonesia and three models have been introduced: the Standard, the Plus and the Premier Stratacoustic. The Stratacoustic has the double cutaway Strat body shape, headstock design and “C” shaped neck profile, this makes it an easy guitar to play for electric guitarists looking for an occasional acoustic instrument. This comfort, however, comes at the cost of a somewhat compromised acoustic tone. Early models had the Fishman Classic preamp, later models have the Fishman Isys III pickup and preamp system with built-in tuner.
